December Update, 2016
As already mentioned in a couple of spots, Savage no longer supports their 10ML-II muzzleloader. I do have a small quantity my own through-hardened ventliners that last 500-600 shots or more without opening and offer better ignition with most propellants as well. They are available while quantities last, first come first-served: http://www.randywakeman.com/savage0.htm .
Some have asked about Buddy, my German Short-Haired Pointer. Buddy was diagnosed with aggressive, inoperable cancer back in late July. It looked like he was a goner, but right now (late December) he is on no medication and you couldn't tell that he was sick at all: high energy, great stamina, very happy and playful, and he finds wild pheasants better than ever. The vet was almost speechless, saying, “Well, Randy, when was the last time you had a miracle? You were probably due for one, as that is exactly what you have right now.”
The Remington V3 in walnut is expected very shortly, and also the new Remington 18 round RP9 9mm pistol. I do evaluate several bolt-action centerfires every year, and the Remington 783 in .270 Winchester will be included in the next extensive round-up.
I've requested a Fabarm USA Axis Sporting for evaluation, as there has been strong reader interest in this model. Fabarm USA and Caesar Guerini normally releases their full batch of new models at the SHOT Show, which I will be attending as usual.
There is also a Winchester SX4 gas autoloader, “Made in Portugal by Browning Viana,” already announced and shipping, Ruger has already released their LCP II small .380 ACP pistol and the easy take-down Mark IV .22 pistol.
Benelli apparently is set to introduce their "Super Black Eagle 3" at the Shot Show.
Savage has announced their new but tragically ugly B series bolt-action rimfire rifles, and apparently is getting into the Armalite rifle platform as well for 2017. Plans for 2017 are already more or less made, but several manufacturers are going more and more to mid-year or “when ready” releases. North American Arms is busy working on their long-awaited Ranger II break-top mini-revolver, but NAA has not committed to any timetable.
Over the years, I've produced over thirty commercial videos starting with VHS and other analog formats and have some thirty-five video and still cameras as a result. I've decided to upgrade my gear for umpteenth time as the modest set of YouTube videos I've produced are already at over 4,300,000 views. You can expect an increasing number of videos released in 2017 and beyond.
